Conference- «From the olive tree of Odysseus to the Bio Memories of today»
The age-old olive groves of Kefalonia and Ithaca are a symbol of the development of biodiversity and ecosystems of high natural value. These trees carry in addition to the excellent quality fruits, the history and the culture of the place, but in recent years they are called to face a multitude of threats such as urbanization and land-use changes (uprooting of monumental olive trees, reduction of biodiversity), the limited knowledge of their environmental and cultural value, the lack of strategic planning for their management and promotion, etc.
In a general effort for the protection of the Olive groves, the Management Body of Ainos National Park in the framework of the Act entitled "BIO_MEMORIES: THE MONUMENTAL OLIVE GROVES AND OLIVE TREES: Recording, Capturing, Dating and Promoting Their High Value "Sustainable Development of the countryside of the Ionian Islands", organized the conference entitled "From the olive tree of Odysseus to the Biomnemes of today".
The event took place on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 10:00 am. at the Capitol Events venue.
